Nellie Marcoux
April 2, 2017. Nellie was born in Steinbach, Manitoba to John and Lydia (Engbrecht) Andres on July 10, 1951. She married Guy Marcoux in 1972, and after many short lived moves they settled in Brandon, Manitoba in 1981 where they made many lifelong friends. After 10 years they moved back to Winnipeg. Nellie's last job was at Air Canada which afforded her the ability to indulge her love of travelling. She is survived by her loving husband Guy, son Philip, daughter Rachel (Evan) Charbonneau, grandchildren Ethan and Owen; also by her siblings Adina (Doug) Robb, Erna (Dennis) Friesen, John (Edna) Andres, Ron (Cheryl) Andres, Elsie (Larry) Godwin, and Karen (Andy) Andres. She was predeceased by her mother Lydia Andres (1964), father John Andres (2004), stepmother Helen Andres (2010), father-in-law Antonio Marcoux (1986), brother-in-law Louis Spencer (1996), brother-in-law Paul Marcoux (2009), and brother-in-law Ed Pikl (2015). A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Charles "Chuck" Carter
It is
with deep sorrow our family announces the passing of Chuck on
March 11, 2017 at the Central Okanagan Hospice House. Born in
Flin Flon, Manitoba, he grew up in this close knit Northern
community and never lost his love and appreciation of nature or
the freedom of the outdoors. The special bond formed in his youth
with “Flin Flonners” lasted throughout his lifetime and getting
together periodically for luncheons to reminisce about times past
brought him much enjoyment.
Chuck is survived by his wife Liz, son Shane (Amber), along with
two children from his first marriage Kim Graham (Henry) and son
Leonard (Molly). He had two grandchildren, Samantha (Mike),
Michael and a great granddaughter, Amber. He was predeceased by
his parents Leonard Carter and Ethel (McPherson), and his sister
Donna Johnson.
Chuck took great pride in everything he did and had a passion for
aviation. He worked a lifetime in the industry. He joined the
RCAF at 17 years of age and served for 22 years; stationed in
Bagotville, Que., Chatham, N.B., Cold Lake, Alta., and Winnipeg,
MB. He attained his private pilot’s license at a young age and
flew Cessna aircraft for many years while in Cold Lake, Winnipeg,
and Saskatoon, flying numerous trips in the north and across the
prairies. He achieved his AME license through Transport Canada
and while stationed in Cold Lake, for many years was the Chief
Engineer of the Cold Lake Flying Club. Upon retiring from the Air
Force, he was employed with Air Canada for 23 years, completing
his career as an Aircraft Maintenance Inspector. After retirement
from Air Canada, Chuck owned and operated his own business. He
had contracts with many companies, including Boeing Canada as an
Inspector, and became part of the professional team that built
the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
When he finally retired, Chuck and Liz moved from the prairies to
West Kelowna, British Columbia, thoroughly enjoying the Okanagan
weather, reconnecting with old friends and making new friends
along the way. Personally, Chuck was a very kind and humble
person who was always willing to help his family, neighbours and
friends. He loved his family dearly and will remain in our hearts
forever.
Chuck was a long serving member and Master Mason of the Royal
Arch Masons; remaining with his home lodge Astra Lodge #179. He
was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to
the nurses and staff at Kelowna General Hospital and Central
Okanagan Hospice House for their compassionate care of Chuck.
Thank-you to our wonderful friends, Ted and Terry, Diane and Bob,
Jay and Jenny, Gert and Dini, Jan and Llane, and Michelle. Your
love and support will not be forgotten.
At Chuck’s request there will be no service. He will be laid to
rest at a private family ceremony at a later date. In lieu of

Arno "Arnie" Seidler
ARNO SEIDLER On February 4, 2017 Arno Seidler passed away peacefully in his home. Arno (Arnie) was born on February 18, 1935 in Essen, Germany to Otto and Elizabeth Seidler. He spent his childhood in Essen with his brothers Siegfried and Heinz. Arno immigrated to Canada in 1960. He worked for Air Canada as a painter for 26 years, retiring in 1999. Arno is survived by his wife Gerda; son Derreck (Erika); daughters, Esther (Stacy) and Arleen (Randy); and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brian "Cowboy" Welling
BRIAN WILLIAM WELLING It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian William Welling, aka "Cowboy" on Monday, December 5, 2016, with Helen by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian will be forever missed by the love of his life Helen, his daughter Sammie, granddaughter Amari, stepdaughter Julie, brother Tony (Debbie), sisters Rosemary (John), Valerie and Heather (Dave), brother- in-law Norman, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family in England and countless friends. Brian was predeceased by his parents Esther and Doug Welling, and sister Margaret LeBlanc. Brian was born on May 27, 1960 in Winnipeg, he grew up in St. Vital, and started his career at Bristol Aerospace as a sheet metal mechanic where he did mobile repair part work on Twin Huey helicopters. Brian went on to work for Air Canada as a mechanic, where he worked until Aveos closed. Brian's passion for airplanes took him to Kelowna where he worked for Flight Craft (KF Aerospace) as a structural mechanic. Brian loved planes, fishing, camping and especially his boat where he had many adventures on the Okanagan Lake. Brian had a zestful, infectious laugh and smile which affected everyone he met. Many great memories were made at his carport pub, where nobody left without his famous Caesars, wings or signing the wall. Brian was a very kind-hearted man who would never hesitate to help anyone in need. He also had a great love for candy which he truly enjoyed sharing with co-workers. The family extends their sincere thanks to all the caregivers, especially all of Brian's friends from near and far, who continually visited him, lifting his spirits daily. You have truly been "Cowboy's" angels. We have been so blessed to have Brian in our lives and he will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. KARL JOHN LENCHUK February 24, 1939 - October 1, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karl (John) Lenchuk into a peaceful rest with his family by his side. Karl was a loving and devoted husband to Pat of 48 years (married October 21, 1967), wonderful father to Jeffrey (Tracey), Michelle (Bart Palmer), Cheryl and best Papa to his only granddaughter Desirae Lenchuk. He will also be remembered by his sister Elaine, brothers Joseph, Lawrence, Glen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dad worked for Trans Canada Airlines (later Air Canada) as an Aircraft Technician for 40 years before retiring in 1997. Dad enjoyed travelling with Mom to various destinations with Florida and Hawaii being his favourites. He also enjoyed family vacations, family dinners, birthday parties, fishing, gardening, coffee at Tim's and puttering around the garage. He was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. A memorial service and celebration of Karl's life will be held Friday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial, 4000 Portage Avenue. Raymond Bohemier
RAYMOND LAURENT JOSEPH BOHEMIER After a lengthy illness, Dad passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was born in St. Norbert to Joseph and Rose Bohemier. Left to cherish Dad's memory are his sons, Rene (Christina) and Duane (Cindy); daughter, Lisa (Brian); grandchildren, Michael (Michelle), Katrice (Derek) and Alexandria; and great grandchildren Brookelyn and Sylus. He also leaves his brother, Bob; sister, Louise; brother-in-law, Bob Burns (Irene); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Corinne in 1999; his parents; and 12 brothers and sisters. Dad proudly worked for 25 years with Air Canada, retiring in 1991. He had a wonderful sense of humour, a green thumb and a passion for growing tomatoes. He loved the sport of boxing, tinkering around the house, inventing things and a close game of Cribbage. Dad truly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His strong faith carried him through and enriched his life. David Bjornson
On Tuesday, August 9, 2016 David Bjornson passed away peacefully
at St. Boniface Hospital with his family by his side. David is
survived by his wife of 51 years Barbara; mother Anne; sister
Lorraine (John); sons Warren (Pam) and Keith (Kira); daughter
Sandy (Rene), and grandchildren Cassandra, Renelle, Grant, and
Jasmine. He was predeceased by his father Kjartan and sister
Sheila. David was born in Arborg on December 2, 1943. He moved to
Gimli as a teenager where he met the love of his life Barbara.
They were married in 1965. In 1967 they moved to Selkirk and
started their family. David pursued a career in the aircraft
industry. He was an aircraft mechanic for 47 years. His passions
included home built aircraft, motorcycles, and guitars. A
memorial service is to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August
19, 2016 at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers,

Amber Lynn Yorski, passed away unexpectedly on Friday July 29, 2016 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Amber is survived by her mother, Karen Ruml; her husband Elliott; and her sons, Dylan and Evan; and her uncle Bob Stetina (Elaine); as well as many in-laws and cousins. Amber was predeceased by her father, Jerry Ruml; grandparents, Isobel and William Pops' Stetina. Amber lived in Winnipeg all her life. After completing school, Amber went on to work at Pillsbury Foods then Air Canada. Recently, Amber completed her lifelong dream of becoming a florist, after floral school, she was working at Hi-Way Florist. Amber was a devoted mother who took great pride in the accomplishment of her son's achievements. Amber's zest for life and celebrating all the holidays were evident by all who knew her and were welcomed into her home. Amber loved dogs, music, movies, dancing, casino, bingo and traveling. Amber had an amazing kind heart, smile and laugh. Amber will be deeply missed by all her family and friends and all those who were fortunate to have met her. William (Bill) Kuchar
WILLIAM (BILL) KUCHAR 1924 - 2015 With deep sadness the family of Bill Kuchar announces his passing on October 18, 2015, at the Maples Personal Care Home. Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years Mary, daughter Diane (Rick), grandchildren Darlene and Shayne and great-grandson Billy; son Dick (Wendy); brother Joe (Beverley) and their children Leanne (Craig), their son Troy; Gary (Erin); stepgranddaughter Trish (Jason), their daughter Sydney. He was predeceased by parents John and Christine. Bill was born January 31, 1924 in Winnipeg. He fought in Europe with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles from 1943 until the end of the war. Upon his return he became an upholsterer until he joined TCA (now Air Canada) in 1956. He transferred to Vancouver in 1970 until 1980 when he returned to Winnipeg retiring after 32 years. ROBERT (MIKE) MICHAEL OWEN It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of my soulmate and courageous father after a 16 month battle with cancer on Friday, August 21, 2015. Left to cherish Mike's memory are his wife, Linda; only daughter, Kristin (Paulo) and granddog Kenya; brother, Johnny; sisters-in-law, Heidi, Brenda and Kathryn; brother-in-law, Wayne; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Madeline and John; grandma, Rita; brother-in-law, Reg; mother-in-law, Jennie Friedoff; brother, Richard; and sister-in-law, Judith. Mike was born January 29, 1949 in Lachine, PQ. He worked for the Robert Simpson company in Montreal prior to getting on with Air Canada (Dorval), transferring to Winnipeg in 1979, retiring in 2003 after 33 years of service. Retirement was not for Mike, he dabbled in home renovations and then took a part time position at the Warehouse at Health Sciences Centre. retiring in February, 2014. Mike loved going "down home" to the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, many good times were had there. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Heritage Victoria Community Club, 950 Sturgeon Road. EDWARD HENRY BRUCE FRIESEN December 23, 1942 - May 4, 2015 Suddenly on Monday, May 4, 2015, at the age of 72, Eddy was taken from us. He was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lena, his children, Bobby (Tom) and Michelle (Matt), grandchildren Morgan and madison, as well as his sister, Marty (Jim), sisters-in-law: Annette (Willy), Louise, Linda, Carol (Marty), and Marlene; brothers-in-law: Adrian, Johnny (Margaret), Peter (Pat), Leonard, Joseph (Margaret), Edmund (Brenda), Archie (Geraldine) and Mitchell (Linda); and many nieces and nephews. Dad retired after a long career with Air Canada. He was a gentle, quiet and friendly man who loved dogs, feeding birds, and watching deer. He enjoyed yard work, gardening and giving away fresh, homegrown vegetables. He was crafty and made step stools, BBQ utensils, cookie sheets, bird houses, and other handmade creations which continue to be enjoyed by family and friends. He loved to support Mom with her wild blueberry business and enjoyed picking up berries in northern communities. He will be missed by all. Eugene Kowalik
EUGENE KOWALIK Peacefully at home on May 17, 2015 at the age of 78. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Pearl. A kind and generous man, he will be sadly missed by brothers, Harry (Nedra Nash) and Lennard (Cleta) and nieces, Patricia Sullivan, Sandra, and Melodie Bender and nephews, Greg (Susan), their children Emily, Shelley and Jeffrey, Todd (Katherine), their children Kacey and Carter, Craig, by a very close friend and neighbour of 39 years, Rosalyn Stratuliak and other friends. Born on a farm in Poplar Park, Manitoba on February 21, 1937, the family moved to another farm in the Interlake Region in Harperville in 1939, then to Inwood for 3 years and finally to Winnipeg in 1949, when Gene was age 12. Gene's working life took him through several occupations and then a career with Air Canada as a maintenance technician for some 20 years until his retirement at age 65. Gene enjoyed the outdoors. He had a Harley Davison bike at age 16 and drove many makes and models over his cycling years. He excelled at competitive motorcycle events, earning Manitoba's top honours many times. He also enjoyed boating. In winter it was snowmobiling and broomball. Gene won many trophies, an indication of his competitive spirit. In years past, Gene liked to escape at least part of Winnipeg's February weather by flying out to Barbados. GEORGE FLEMMING 1932 - 2015 On Thursday, May 21, 2015, George Flemming of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his mother Astrid (1951); father Arne (1982); his wives, Marie Antoinette (Toni) Dodson (1997) and Joyce McCombe (2010). THOMAS MITCHELL
THOMAS GORDON MITCHELL With love and
sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Thomas Gordon
Mitchell at the Grace Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2015, aged 74
years. Beloved husband of Judith Corrine Mitchell (nee Willim)
and amazing father to his daughter Michelle (Robert) and son
Gordon (Meloney) and an especially proud and doting grandfather
to his three beautiful girls Carmen Lee, Mason Alexandra, and
Cassandra Lynn. Tommy was born January 13, 1941 in the city of
Winnipeg and was raised in the heart of Brooklands. Tommy's
career path led him to Bristol Aerospace in the early 1960s where
he worked as a Certified Aircraft Technician for 17 years before
joining Air Canada in a similar role and over the next 23 years
advanced to the position of Planning Engineer from which he
eventually retired in late 2001. Tommy achieved multiple
commendations and certifications over the course of his career
due to his work ethic, perseverance, and diligence - he never
once forgot or diminished the fact he held lives in his hands
each time he turned his wrench or sent an aircraft back into the
air. There were many passions in Tommy's life including volunteer
work with John Osborne ANAF #1, Isaac Brock Community Centre,
Midland Minor Hockey Association, and a variety of events and
affiliations. He loved his golf, fishing, curling, hockey,
aerospace, general fair play, camping, billiards, and much more -
however, none could ever come close to his love of family. Tommy
was predeceased by his father Walter and mother Daisy as well as
his brother Richard but is survived and spent his final days
surrounded by and in the thoughts of his brother Bill (Margaret),
sister Linda (Alex), sister-in-law Maureen (Lloyd), sister-in-law
Alexis (Fred), and many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces,
and grandnephews. On Wednesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. a Celebration
of Life will be held for Tommy at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre
located across from Brookside Cemetery, 3030 Notre Dame Ave.,
Winnipeg, MB. The family looks forward to hearing of everyone's

the Lord's will on January 24, 2015 Joseph Bommersbach
passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of
91 years. He is survived by his loving wife Josephine;

Eugenia; special relatives: Natalia Baran, Elizabeth and
Kazimierz Dudek, John and Birdiene Baran, and many
nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and Poland. Joseph
was predeceased by his mother Aniela; father Martin, and
brothers Bronek, Peter, and Jan. Joseph was born in the
village of Przystan on November 30, 1923 where he spent
his childhood. He fled Poland at the age of 18 and spent
the next 11 years in Czechoslovakia and Germany. He
arrived in Canada in 1952 and was employed as an
upholsterer and transitioned to the aviation industry
retiring from Air Canada in 1988. Throughout his life
Joseph always had a strong work ethic. In his spare time
he was always found working in his shop, upholstering
furniture for loyal customers and friends. Joseph's faith
in the Lord was instilled at a very early age. When he
arrived in Canada it was important for him to live close
to a church. Sunday was always a day of rest. He was a
life time parishioner at Holy Ghost and St. Alphonsus
Parishes. Joseph enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling
and playing Skat with his Kolping buddies. Along with the
many trips that he and Josephine made, the highlight was
the trip to the Vatican and meeting Pope John Paul II.
Besides being a loving husband and father, Joseph was the
best Dziadek ever! He loved spending time with his
grandchildren either at the park, at the beach in Gimli
or just in his shop building creations. The family would
like to thank Dr. Kenneth VanAmeyde and the wonderful,
caring staff at the Health Sciences Centre on GH4.
Prayers will be said on Friday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m.
at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31 at
11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe

JERRY KALINSKI 1949 - 2014 With great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Jerry Kalinski on October 5, 2014 at the age of 65. He was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Frances, and stepmother Jennie. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 42 years Lillian (nee Slipchuk); his three sons: Curtis (Elisa) and their children Lydia and Samuel, Kevin (Lisa) and their children Seth and Emily, and Ryan (Kaitlyn). He is also survived by his brother Leonard (Mercy), as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jerry had his pilot's license before his driver's license. He had a great passion for aviation, and spent most of his life flying. He retired from Air Canada where he worked in Maintenance. He also worked as a crop duster, which he continued to this day. He loved to teach his beloved sons all about his passions, especially flying. MORTON (GARY) SANDS It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our father, grandfather, and great great-grandfather Gary. He passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Left to survive Gary are his son Dale Sands of Saskatoon; daughters Beverly Smith and husband Alan of Perrysburg, NY USA, Val Geeregat of Baldur, MB and Billy-Joe Geeregat of Baldur MB; son Erroll Sands of Winnipeg; brother Ronald Sands of Brockville, ON; two sisters, Merla Miles of Nepean, ON and Doreen McMillan of North Augusta, ON; brother-in-law Andrew Nick and wife Betty Nick of West Bank, BC, Henry Nick of Portage la Prairie, MB, Madeline Bryant of Calgary, AB; as well by five granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces; nephews; great nieces and great nephews, spanning across Canada. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes Sands (nee Nick) in 1993 after 34 years of marriage; father Harry; mother Eva; brother Merdy Sands; nephew Billy; mother and father-in-law Marcel and Clara Nick; and their one daughter Eva and son Joeseph; sister-in-law Ethel Nick; niece Sherri Hulme; and nephew Joe Nick. Gary was born in Cardinal, ON. In the early 50's he was in the RCAF stationed in Portage la Prairie, MB, where he met and married the love of his life Agnes. Gary was a dedicated employee of Air Canada with just short of 30 years of service at the time of his retirement in 1993. He was lead hand mechanic at the hangar in Winnipeg. Prior to 1982 he worked at the Toronto Airport as a ramp mechanic. On Monday, December 30, 2013 Gary's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. 2013 was a hard year for Dad as he had several health problems. It is with many heartfelt thanks and more gratitude than anyone can express to the staff of the Winnipeg Paramedics and Winnipeg Fire Department, also the doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital for all their efforts and wonderful care our Dad received in his last hours of life and throughout this whole year. HARRY MALCOLM SMITH July 26, 1931 - November 1, 2013 Peacefully on November 1, Harry passed away at the age of 82 at Red River Place Personal Care Home in Selkirk. Harry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice, his children Kevin (Sherice), Brad (Melanie) and Sandra (Teri), grandchildren Melissa, Jessica, Michael, Kaitlyn, Emma and Olivia and his great-granddaughter Elizabeth, his sisters Jean (George) Renauld and Nancy Furey, sisters-in-law Mickey and Greta Smith, brother-in-law John Peltier, several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Mary, his in-laws Harry and Margaret Searle, brothers Reginald and Allan, sisters Kay and Elsie, brother-in-laws Hilliard and Gordon Smith and Jim Furey. Harry was born and raised on the family farm in Fisher Branch, Manitoba where he spent his formative years until moving to Winnipeg in his early 20s. He met and married Alice and they raised their three children in Charleswood. Harry was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 100, Charleswood-Red River Masonic Lodge No. 184, Friendship Chapter No. 67, Order of the Eastern Star and the International Order of Job's Daughters. Harry spent many years in construction and landscaping and finished his working career as a mechanic with Air Canada. Harry retired in 1996 and together with Alice they built their dream home in Grand Marais, MB. Harry spent the remaining years of his life there until his health took a turn and he moved to Red River Place. The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and Red River Place Personal Care Home for the care and compassion shown to Harry. CARL SKRYPEC
CHARLES (CARL) WALTER SKRYPEC In the arms
of his wife, with his family by his side, Charles Walter Skrypec,
aged 75 of Libau, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at home on
Thursday, June 6, 2013. Carl was predeceased by his parents
Katherine and Frank, and his infant son Teddy. Remaining to
forever cherish Carl's memory are his wife of 52 years, Nellie
(Nettie) along with children Brian (Lisa), Karen (Marc) Samson,
Russell (Stephanie) and seven grandchildren Allie, Lauren,
Samantha, Brittney, Corinna, Eric and Nicole. Also left behind
are his sisters Bernice (Frank) Payonk and Minnie (John) Komish
and extended family. Dad was born in Selkirk on October 2, 1937
and was raised on the family homestead in Libau, where his love
for farming flourished. After attending school in Libau, he left
home at the age of 16 to start the automotive mechanics
apprenticeship program at the Red River Institute. Dad and Mom
met at a dance at the UNF hall in 1958 and were married on June
17, 1961 in Winnipeg where they raised their family with love and
discipline. Dad and Mom shared many interests including their
love for travel which took them across Canada as well as many
southern destinations. Dad had an infamous reputation for
repairing vehicles with the help of his two sons Brian and
Russell. With his checklist in hand, Wednesday morning was always
reserved for Autopac auctions where Carl and the boys brought
home many a wreck to fix. Dad loved watching sports including the
Blue Bombers, the Winnipeg Jets and patiently helped Karen
practice pitching during baseball season. After retiring from Air
Canada in 1991, Dad's love for nature and farming brought him
back to the homestead in Libau where he and mom built their dream
retirement home. Dad had the opportunity to work the land he
loved and watch his crops grow until his final year. He was so
proud to be acknowledged when he and Mom received the coveted
2011 Provincial "Best Farm Home Gardens" award for District One.
Dad was actively involved in many functions around the community
including being President of St. Joseph's Polish National Church
in Libau, attending weekly farm auctions and Tuesday night Whist
tournaments in Libau, Stead or Garson. He cherished the many
groups of friends in his life and always had a witty comment to
greet each and every one of them. He especially enjoyed hosting
the "Redwood Gang" picnic with Mom every August in Libau where
they enjoyed great food, good friends and unique party games. Dad
was a kind, loving and devoted husband, father and Geegee. He
believed in the value of hard work and passed this legacy onto
his children and grandchildren. Amidst teaching each grandchild
how to use the quad and riding mower, he always had time to play
crib or watch videos of Mr. Bean while spoiling them with treats
such as Rolos, popcorn twists and cheezies. Their greatest
memories include his green and yellow John Deere tractor, his big
bear-hug greetings and his suspenders which were often snapped
loudly as they ran by. The bravery and dignity he portrayed
during his journey with cancer will always be remembered as a
source of courage for all who knew him. Pallbearers will be his
three children Brian, Karen and Russell and friends Rob Schopohl,
Gus Schade, and John Turesky. Honorary pallbearers are Harry
Rosenbaum and Alec Karish. Many thanks to the Selkirk Oncology
Unit including Dr. Demsas, Dr. Lindenschmidt and nurses Mel and
Debbie. Your amazing care was truly treasured. To all of our
friends and neighbours, we thank you for all of your help and
prayers during Dad's journey with Cancer. Special thanks to Val
Debooy for her ongoing love and compassion. A celebration of

ARMAND DENIS POIRIER Peacefully at
Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface with his wife and special
friend Rita at his side, Armand passed away on April 17, 2013. He
leaves to mourn his loving wife of 42 years, Georgia. He was
predeceased by his parents Lucien and Blanche Poirier, brother Al
and sister Yolly, parents-in-law George and Kathleen Bailey, and
sister-in-law Jackie Boright. He is survived by his sister Helene
Bauman, Lorraine (Don) Donovan, Estelle (Roger) Thorn, brother
Robert (Angie), brothers-in-law Rod (Allison) Bailey, Ian
Boright, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Armand was
born September 22, 1938, in Timmins, ON. He took apprenticeship
in Toronto for sheetmetal. He worked different jobs until he
worked for Air Canada for nearly 30 years. He made many friends
wherever he went. Armand and Georgia travelled to many places but
enjoyed their winter home in Florida with many friends. Many
thanks to friends and family who came to visit. Thanks also to
the staff at CancerCare, Health Sciences Centre and the
Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be

ROBERT (BOB) BACKLUND Peacefully at home Tuesday, April 3, 2012 Robert (Bob) Backlund passed away with his family by his side. Left to cherish Bob's memories are his wife of 30 Years Leslie Gail and their two children Kyle (Tanya) and Sherri (Sean). He also leaves behind his loving Mother Christa and his siblings Margaret, Ron, James, John and Diana, his in-laws Albert and Denise Ross as well as Karen (Gord), Chuck (Kerri), Nancy and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his younger brother Mark Anthony in 2000 and his father Donald in 2007. Bob was born in Winnipeg on August 9, 1956 and was employed with Air Canada for 31 years before retiring in July of 2011. While employed with Air Canada he was known as Big City and later renamed himself to Big Country when the family moved to St. Adolphe. Bob was a loving family man and in his spare time loved to go fishing, boating and seemed to always be working on his vehicles. Many weekends you could find Bob surrounded by many good friends and family that knew they were always welcomed to join him for a drink and his words of wisdom. The family would like to thank the South Eastman Health Palliative care and Dr. Christopher Burnett for helping us care for Dad at home, where he wanted to be. MAZZA, Stuart After living courageously with cancer for the last six years, Stuart died at home in his 35th year on October 20, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He continues to live in the hearts and memories of those who loved him so deeply. Beloved son of Rob and Za, adored Grandson of Mary, Fred and Jean, dear brother of Stephen and Joanna, he will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Stuart's flying career was cut short by his cancer, at which point he retrained as an Aircraft Structural Technician, working for 10 months with Air Canada in Winnipeg. An avid airplane enthusiast and sailor, Stuart most recently competed in the Mobility Cup sailing event at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club at the end of August. Cremation will take place, with arrangements having been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home . ALAIN ROY August 19, 1955 - December 21, 2011 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law and friend. Al battled cancer to be with his family as long as possible,and passed away at home with them at his side. One of 14 children born to Simone and Jean Baptiste Roy, Al was predeceased by his father and oldest sister Rosemary. Al is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Tahirih and son Justin. Also left to cherish his memory are his family and many friends, young and old. Al was loved by all; he always made you feel special. He was generous and always willing to help however he could. As per Al's wishes, cremation has taken place and a gathering to celebrate Al's life will be held at a later date. PETER ROBERT STYLES Unexpectedly, yet peacefully, with his family by his side on January 1, 2012, Peter Robert Styles, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 57. Remaining to cherish Peter's memory are his wife Patricia, son Johnny, daughter Ashley, brothers Gerry, Arthur (Dora), nephew Ivan, and sister Cathy. Also extended family in Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. Peter was born on October 25, 1954 in Geralton ON. He was married for 35 years to Patricia Styles (nee Guyatt). Peter graduated from Miller Memorial Bible Institute in 1979 and later with an Avionics diploma from Confederation College in Thunder Bay. He was employed by Air Canada till illness forced him to retire in September 2010. He had his pilot's license. Peter loved music and was happiest when jamming in music bands with his friends or leading worship at Springfield Community Church. Peter and Patricia both loved music and when Peter knew a song was Patricia's favourite he turned up the volume. He also was adventurous such as riding horses and skiing with Patricia. A celebration of Peter's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at The Church at Pine Ridge, corner of Hwy. 207 and Garvin Road, with Pastor Ken Vaags officiating. On December 15, 2011, Khai passed away following a
courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at the
St.Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 43
years. He was brave and a gentleman throughout his
journey. He was predeceased by his mom Canh. He will being
missed by his wife Huong, his daughter Katrina ( Thao ),
brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews as well as many other
relatives and friends. Khai was born in Vietnam and moved to Canada in 1980.
He was a simple, hard working person, had a loving of
learning and liked to be challenged. He found his job at
Air Canada as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer very
rewarding and had worked there for more than 15 years. He
loved his job and his fellow workers. Khai was a kind man, a responsible, loving and caring
husband, father, big brother, and uncle to his all large
family both in Canada and Vietnam. Khai was always
willing to offer help to anyone who in needed. Khai was a simple man, respectful and fair, he
listened to his family and friends. He liked to spend his
time with family especially his lovely daughter Katrina.
He liked a warm home, enjoying sharing good food with his
family and friends. He particularly liked his Vietnamese
food, when prepared by his wife and his mom. The family would like to take this opportunity to
express thanks to everyone that helped him during the
most difficult time in his life, including his sisters,
brothers, friends... especially the doctors and staff at

Peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Health
Sciences Centre at the age of 76 years. Dad was born in
Stanley, ON, where he grew up on the farm. He worked at
Great Lakes Paper as a fire watch and timekeeper. In
1955, Bob joined the Canadian Air Force and his first
posting outside Canada was Rabat. Shortly after this
posting he returned to Canada at the base of MacDonald,
Portage La Prairie. By 1958, Bob met his soon to be wife,
Gloria, and Gary was to be the first of three boys born
in Portage la Prairie. Moose Jaw was the next posting for
Dad and is the birthplace of second son Alan in 1962.
Dad's final posting was in Winnipeg as a mechanic on
aircraft. To make ends meet, Dad worked at Silver Heights
Esso pumping gas and being a service attendant located on
Ness and Mount Royal. Dad's first job out of the military
was working for St. Andrews Airways. This was the first
hanger ever built at St. Andrews Airport. Dad would fly
up to Island Lake after to fix aircraft as well. In 1972,
Dad and the family packed up the car, sold the house and
moved to Port Alberni, BC. There on Sproat Lake, Dad
would fly in the two largest water bombers ever built,
the mighty Martins Mars. These aircraft would be the
beginning of his one of a kind storied resume of working
on some of the most unique, aircraft in aviation history.
At Forest Industries Flying Tanker (FIFT), as a flight
engineer, he would be busy from sunrise to sunset, flying
over fires with the crew dropping loads of water to save
communities from flames. Port Alberni was the birth place
of the third son Dale. Dad also built our home here as
well. In 1979, he brought the family back to Winnipeg. It
was Air Canada this time as the employer. This time Dad
would be given more opportunities to expand his expertise
and trust. It was here he would become the chief mechanic
of the Lockheed Elactra. This would be known as, Dad's
Plane . For this aircraft of Trans Canada Airways would
be one of the top prizes at North American Airshows. Air
Canada would use this aircraft as a Poster Boy for Dreams
Take Flight exhibitions. This aircraft had earlier
significant in aviator history years earlier. Emelia
Ernhardt flew this same make of aircraft in her attempt
to fly around the world. Mom and Dad took part in
travelling in the Lockheed as Dad would do mechanical
work along their flight plan. The second event of
significance with Air Canada was Dad would become part of
another team. This one was to put back together the Gimli
Glider . In 1993, Dad formed the Manitoba Ultra-Light
Association out of Warren, MB. In 1994, Dad retired from
Air Canada and stayed connected with air planes. He
worked side jobs at St. Andrews Airport and Lincrest
Airport (Spring Field Flying Clubs). Dad still kept his
hands busy with building a family cottage at Cape
Coppermine in the Lee River area. During his retirement,
Dad worked on his inherited Model T Ford. He volunteered
with good cheer at the Western Canada (WCAM) Aviation
Museum every Tuesday and Thursday there along with Bob
Moore, Wilf, Gary, Ed and others. Dad was trustworthy and
committed at work and at home. Dad had his career built
on workmanship and work ethic. Dad was a pioneer in
aviation. Dad worked on some of the unique and one of a
kind aircrafts in the history of aviation. Not many can
say they worked on aircrafts that made the Golden Era of
travel. The family would like to thank 911 Emergency
Paramedics. We also like to thank the doctors, nurses and
staff members at Adult Emergency at Health Sciences

BRUCE JAMES WAUGH It is with
deep sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of our beloved husband, Step-Pops, Papa,
Brother and Gruncle on March 28, 2011 after a
courageous battle with cancer. He will be sadly
missed and lovingly remembered by his wife
Lorrie, children John Copsey (Cindy Good) and
Robin Kilmury (Michael), grandchildren Matthew
and Emma Bonne and Sara Copsey, sister Marcie
Waugh, sister-in-law Joan Wilton, niece Holly
Arabsky (Ryan) and their children Kate and Eric,
nephew David Brathwaite (Stephanie) and their
children Hayley, Pippa and Deaglan and nephew
Dean Brathwaite (Jae-Lynne) as well as Michael's
children Caslyn and Brady, Cindy's son Nicholas,
dear uncle and aunt, Fred and Dorothy Waugh and
aunt Frances Fasken as well as numerous cousins.
Bruce was born on December 26, 1941 in Winnipeg
and predeceased by his parents Jack and Irene
Waugh. Bruce worked for Air Canada for over 34
years. Upon retirement he worked as a funeral
attendant for Dignity Memorial, a position for
which he was well suited with his kind, charming
and gentle personality. Lorrie and Bruce
travelled extensively over the years but their
favourite holiday was taking dear Matthew and
Emma to Disneyworld. His favourite times were
spent with family and friends and many fun-filled
and memorable summers were spent at Whytewold
Beach. A Celebration of Bruce's life for family
and friends will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011
at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park , 1291

| GORDON DAVID LOUDON August 2, 1960 - March 29, 2011 Peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Grace Hospital, Gord, known as GL to many that loved him, passed away at the age of 50 years. Left to cherish Gord's memory is his love and best friend Marilyn McClay; brother Roy (Mary); nephews Riley and Joel; mother-in-law Eva McClay; as well as many dear friends. He was predeceased by his father Dave; stepmom Eileen and sister Sandra. Gord was born in Winnipeg on August 2, 1960 to Dave and Florence. At the age of nine the family moved to Pinawa where he loved growing up. He enjoyed biking, Boy Scouts and special camping/fishing trips with Roy and his Dad. At 18 Gord moved back to Winnipeg and began his employment with Air Canada. He proudly spent 26 years working in Stores before retiring in 2005. Gord then attained his Real Estate License and worked as a realtor with Sutton Group. He also had a successful computer business, CME Computers. Gord's other interests including cycling, working out, on-line gaming and spending time with his many friends. On Saturday, April 2, 2011 Gord's Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. A reception will follow in Rae and Jerry's, 1405 Portage Ave. for refreshments and the sharing of special memories and stories. Marilyn would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of 3 North at the Grace Hospital. You all became like a second family to us over the last six months and the kindness and compassion shown to us both will never be forgotten. | SUSAN HELEN LESCHYSON (nee NADON) It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Helen Leschyson announce her passing. She died in her home surrounded by the ones she loved, on December 6, 2010. Susan will join her predeceased parents, Lucien and Helen Nadon; as well as her sister Karen. She leaves behind an adoring husband George; sons, Brent, Matthew and Justin; brother Lyle (Joyce); granddaughter Natalia, a large extended family and many friends. Susan was born August 17, 1954 and moved to Garden City in 1959. Susan enjoyed growing up with her older brother and friends, Laurie and Barb. In 1974 she met George, who would be the love of her life, and she would marry in 1976. The years that followed would see her raising and spending time with her growing family. Susan will be remembered by how much she loved her children and granddaughter. Many hours were spent cheering on her sons at hockey and other sports. Her wisdom and patience were always demonstrated helping with her children's school work. Her family valued the time they spent together playing Scrabble, cooking together and sharing stories. She was always ready to lend an ear and help with her family's challenges and successes. Working with Canadian Air, and later Air Canada, allowed Susan to explore her love of travelling. She enjoyed long trips across North America with her parents and brother as a child, and later with a family of her own. She especially enjoyed exploring her history in Scotland and vacationing in Thailand, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, with George. Among her closest friends she counted Maren and Angela who she would spend many afternoons with having tea, going out for lunch, and spending quality time with. Her CancerCare Support Group was a very important part of her life after being diagnosed in 2007. Their contribution to Susan's life was a guiding light for her and her family. Susan was often happiest with a good book or a crossword puzzle surrounded by family and friends. She was kind, honest and hard working. Her warm smile, love and generosity impacted us all. She will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 14 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. | ROGER PAUL TELLIER It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Paul Tellier on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the age of 55 years. Roger will be forever loved and remembered by his brother Gerry (Bev); sisters, Annette (Eugene), Lucy (Danny) and Jo Ann (Randy); his nephews and nieces, J.P. (Diane); Kirk and Michelle; Rene, Rachelle and their Mom, Brenda; his two great-nephews Austin and Cael; and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. Roger's dear friend Joey and her son Ryan, as well as his good friend Glen share our sorrow at this time and are appreciated for everything they have done. Roger's furry little four legged buddy Mack also misses him dearly but is being very well taken care of. We take great comfort in knowing that Roger has joined family members who have predeceased him, our Mom Elsie and Dad Aurel (2006), our brother Ronald Rav (2004) and our brother-in-law Martin (2001). At his time of passing Roger was employed at Air Canada as an Aircraft Mechanic and had been there for more than 20 years. Roger was a man of many passions; in particular cars; to which there were many great ones over the years and some wellnot so great, yet his passion remained. In keeping with Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private gathering will be arranged at a later date. For those who wish in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Roger's memory at a charity of your choice. We will miss you Snoger ! For it isn't your mother, your father or wife whose judgment upon you must pass, but the man, whose verdict counts most in your life is the one staring back from the glass. He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest. For he's with you right to the end, and you've passed your most difficult test if the man in the glass is your friend. | LARRY BAKALUK Peacefully in the early morning of May 2, 2009, Larry passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 62. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa; brothers Gordon (Lori) and Danny; nephew, Steven and niece, Bailey. Larry enjoyed his career with Air Canada as an avionics technician. Other passions included: music, guitars and animals. Cremation has taken place. | KLAUS HARALD KIECKER After a brief illness Klaus passed away on January 19, 2009 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 68. Klaus was born in Danzig, Germany on November 18, 1940 and immigrated to Canada along with his mother Viktoria on December 7, 1955. He was a very proud Canadian and truly grateful for the opportunities Canada brought him. He was predeceased by his mother and father Viktoria and Walter; sister Lilo Kramme; mother and father in law Margaret and Robert Orr and brother in law Richard Orr. He is survived by his loving wife Roberta; son Bruce (Crystal); sisters-in-law Phyllis (Ronald) Cisneros and Barbara (Donald) Stevens; brother-in-law Bernard Kramme as well as his nieces and nephews, Rita, Vera, Donald and Kimberly. The loves of his life were his wife of 43 years Roberta, his only son Bruce, his cats, the Charleswood wildlife, gardening, and keeping an eye on the neighborhood as Block Captain of the Neighborhood Watch. He joined Air Canada in Montreal in October 1967 and transferred to Winnipeg in September of 1980, where he retired in August 2001 after 34 years of service as a Lead Hand Mechanic. Klaus was known for his immaculate lawn and clean sidewalks and to be the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need and never expecting anything in return. He was a loyal friend and generous spirit who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to staff of the Grace Hospital, especially the ICU unit for the care shown to Dad.
